Default What other kind of snakes are you interested in?

Just want to see what folks here are interested in other than boas..

Multiple choices are available in this poll.

I would have put rainbow boas in there as they seem to be pretty popular, so it's going to the other i will explain category...I can only do 10 poll options...

Myself I have been keeping nothing but boas so long I am back to mixing it up here.. recent purchases have sparked new interests..

I like Candoia ssp. alot..... I used to have a few of them.... their resemblance to b constrictor is uncanny....

I also have a thing for Malaysian Blood pythons... i used to breed them back in the day but I got sick of the whole egg thing...

But If I could have anything other than a bcc.... It would be

1. An Amazon Basin Emerald
2. A boelen's python
3. Indigo

I've raised quite a few chondros and other arboreal snakes. Last weekend I went to S&S exotics in Houston and almost walked out with a really nice Merauke ... but then I came to my senses. Tree snakes are fascinating , and surprisingly low maintenance.

Just boas for me for now, but one of these days I will purchase a group of Boelens Pythons , those are my favorite snake.

Retics, ATBs, Morelia (mainly carpets and SCRUBS ), and corn snakes, but I forgot to check that... in addition to RTBs.

Quoting myself here...LOL...

After looking at different snakes over and over and a few recent purchases I am going to really mix up the collection..

Sticking with the smaller boas as well as a few morphs I want to "make smaller"

Carpets, I also have 10 new carpet pythons I won't have all for a bit yet as some are going to be imported from Europe. went from a pair of striped jungles, (thanks Eric K) to another pair of IJ's who bred and I got all of those babies, to coming soon: more jungles, Ivory jungles, Caramel, Zebra, and a nice 75% IJ Jag female I am getting from Erin and Mark B (users right here on RI)

Bloods, I have had them in the past and loved everything but the fact that my old bloods were all WC and nasty.. New found love for these with captive morphs that are mellow.. just going to keep a few... got one great albino female (From Ash Lopez) hoping to find a male I think will be good to breed her to..

Also planning on getting into the GTP's, I dig the Aru's with white, and centrally located GTP's with blues. Not so much the ones really bred to be blue but the natural blues with nice contrasting green.

You also forgot to add venomous to the poll... I know I probably would not keep them unless I earned my "legs" under a mentor and obtained a state license, but the possibility is there.

Well there are only 10 poll options available, there was a lot more I would have liked to have added.. They all end up in the you'll have to post about it section that isn't available...LOL...

I myself had thought about getting some albino Cobras for shits and giggles a few years ago, but Brook basically told me if cobras come into the house she won't be in it...LOL....

Other snakes (other than BCC/BCA constrictors) which I am thinking of dabbling in are:-

Amazon Basin Emeralds (definately on my 'to have list')
Brazilian rainbows (have kept these in the past, but the high red/orange ones going around these days are outstanding)
High yellow pure jungle carpet pythons (have actually got a stunning female, another pair on the way)
Top end BCC (Obviously)

Snakes I want but will never have (although you can never say never):-

Eyelash Viper
Gaboon/Rhino viper.

I would love some Gaboon/Rhino vipers also , they are to me the most beautiful of snakes .. but there's that whole 3 inch fang thing and deadly venom that makes me think twice

Cobras... are scary. They are smart. I had the pleasure of seeing a juvie monacled. They are very cool... but scary smart.

If I found myself working with hots, I'd be working with some agkistrodon (Copppers), Crotalus (Atrox or cerastes), Bitis (rhinoceros, gabonica, nasicornis), and certain Tree Vipers (Wagler's, Schlegs... maybe atheris).

I'm a nutcase. Whatever.
